Racerapport

The JB Motorsport Audi R8 LMS with Christer “Cralle” Lindholm and Jan Brunstedt took a clear win at Mantorp Park – the second round of the Swedish GT series. Lindholm qualified the car on pole, 1,4 seconds ahead of the quickest Ferrari 458 Challenge car of Italian Matteo Belabus. Five more Challenge cars followed with Björn Grossman and Alx Danielsson very close to Belabus time. In GT4 Philip Forsman was quickest in Ricknaes Motorsport´s Porsche, followed by the West Coast Racing BMW and the PWR Aston Martin.

As expected the Audi dominated from start but behind there was some good racing between the 458 Challenge cars as well as in the GT4 class. Matteo Belabus started the car he shared with Jerry Wiener while the other Autoropa 458´s decided to run a different strategy, waiting with their fastest drivers until the final stint. Belabus chased the quicker GT3 car bravely and when the pit window opened he had a healthy margin to the other four Ferraris´, headed by Gisle Valen and Martin Nelson. Behind, Alx Danielsson took over from Christian Kinch in sixth place, and then started a drive which became the highlight of the race. He chased down Gisle Valen – driving alone in a 458 with wing kit – and passed him with five laps to go. Björn Grossman – sharing with Tommy Lindroth – tried to get third but Norwegian Valen took the final podium position. Martin Nelson/Mattias Andersson had a lonely race to fifth, losing time during the pitstop. Jerry Wiener finished the race in sixth.

Philip Forsman dominated GT4 in the Ricknaes Motorsport Porsche when delivering the car to Håkan Ricknäs with just 25 minutes to go. Håkan seemed to have a good lead but was soon under attack from the Aston Martin of Daniel Haglöf – shared with Peter Wallenberg Jr. The Aston went by and took a fine win with ATS Racing´s Ginetta G50 third – driven solely by Norwegian Aleksander Schjerpen. The WCR BMW couldn´t keep up the good form shown in qualifying and came home in fifth, behind the Peter Larsen/Johan Rosén Ginetta G50. The latter recovered well after Rosén spun on the first lap. Martin Sventén had a lucky escape when he lost the brakes in his Ford Mustang at the end of the long straight on the second lap.
